It's science week!
So far this week, we have completed an investigation in to the sugar density in fruit juices. We used a syringe to measure out equal quantities of different fruit juices to see which juice would remain at the top of the glass, therefore indicating which juice had less sugar in and was less dense.
Later in the week we investigated the surface tension of water vs soapy water by seeing how many drops of water we could fit on to the top of a penny. Our record was 96 drops of plain water! We learnt that the soap breaks the surface tension and so results in less drops of water remaining on the top of the penny.
We also investigating the rate of sugar dissolving in water when it is affected by food colouring. We used skittles to see the reaction.
