On Thursday 4th February, Year 4 travel to Chester to learn about Roman life which will help us with our history topic in school.
Our day was split into two halves. In the morning session we were taken on a walk around the town by a Roman soldier. We visited the site of an old Roman baths and an amphitheatre. Mr Humphray and Mrs Johnson became gladiators for the day and re-enacted a Roman fight to the death. Mrs Johnson was the victor and Mr Humphray was sentenced to death by the class.
After lunch we were taken around the Dewa museum and experienced how a Roman soldier would have lived while he was in Chester. We were also taken into the cellar of the museum where they have excavated Roman ruins and artefacts. To finish the day we were allowed to dress up as Romans.
We had a fantastic day and learnt a lot!
