Debt Aware are a charity who provide money management lessons to school children. At Debt Aware, they believe that 'if children start learning the basics at an early age, they will be confident about managing money as they grow up. If they understand why it makes sense to save for things you want but don’t need, what borrowing means, how credit works and the risks involved, they are less likely to fall into serious debt.'
Debt Aware visit our school once every term for the past three years to provide money management lessons to Years 5 and 6. 'Money Mentors' are chosen, who lead and support their classmates through extra activities, after their course with Debt Aware.
